Peter's Great Migration (Print) - 9x12"

$125.00

Preamble Collection | “Peter’s Great Migration”

Although not indigenous, Saint Jamien’s ancestral American lineage can be traced to the early 1800s on a plantation in Louisiana. Her great-great Uncle Peter Sr., son of his slave master, was granted his freedom at age 40. Taught to read and gifted land from his father, Peter Sr.’s son, Peter Jr., ultimately went on to graduate from Tougaloo College. Over the years, the family migrated across the country only for Saint Jamien to find her way back – attending Howard University School of Law to carry on the tradition and gift of higher education. This piece is inspired by, and dedicated to, the legacy of HBCUs and those who pressed on through the swampy plantations of the south so that today their descendants can pursue every intellectual and creative dream.

Peter’s Great Migration | Limited Series Print | 9”x12” Archival Matte Fine Art Paper
