This piece tells the story of transitions from life to death, unwashed to salvation, and from motherhood to lifelessness. The woman is working her way through fluid blocks in shades of blue and purple that are juxtaposed against jagged edges of stippled black, whites and greys.Oscillating between the certainty of the pain she carries from recent losses to the tranquility promised in the next life. With this piece, Saint Jamien depicts how, for her, sometimes death feels like a kindness.
